EG Creative Spaces Award Winner!
Thrilled to announce that we were awarded the Creative Spaces Award last night at the EG Awards 2019. Despite facing a stellar shortlist of projects including Battersea Power Station, Park Hill and Leake Street Arches our 240,000 sq.ft. adaptive reuse scheme in Northampton was recognised by the judges for its innovation and contribution to the local community.
The judges said: “If we are going to undertake change in the UK, we can’t just demolish everything. We have to re-use buildings, which is exactly what Architecture Initiative has done here. It is an old building, vacant for 11 years, which they have brought back to life and created a strong community tie.”
The studio are proud to champion genuinely local, community-focussed projects which seek to regenerate areas both socially and economically. We are fully supportive of the campaign to encourage adaptive reuse which offers significant sustainable and environmental benefits, not to mention a brilliant creative canvas from which to reimagine a space whilst retaining its legacy. Thank you EG for a brilliant night and for pushing the boundaries of property awards ceremonies to deliver a night to remember!
